Chapter 3: The Only Way Home
“The only way I can get home? This is insane,” Janie said.
She moved away from the fairy and began rubbing her head.
“What’s the matter?” Julia asked.
“I’m searching for a bump, or a lump or some other injury that could cause me to fall into a deep, deep sleep and dream up this whole thing. Maybe if I find it, I’ll wake up.”
“I am afraid you are not asleep Janie. You are very much awake, so welcome to the Kingdom of Fluberbia. It’s fate, don’t you see? Your destiny is to save us.”
Julia took her hand and began pulling the older girl along a flowered covered path that suddenly opened up before them.
The flowers were beautiful, all violets in every shade of pink and purple imaginable. Janie gasped at their brilliance.
“We have to go tell Claire and prepare you for your journey,” Julia said excitedly.
“Is it really my only way home?” Janie asked.
“And my only way back to being human, with a touch of magic, and the only hope for my sister and I to be normal again,” Julia replied.
“But what if I’m not the one?” Janie asked.
“There’s one way to find out,” Julia said but did not tell her what that one way was. “Come on. Let’s go find Claire.”
Janie followed the aeronautically gifted princess, a bit reluctantly, unsure of this journey she was about to embark upon and more than a little uneasy about what would happen next.
